Comment répondre au téléphone en anglais ?

Si vous travaillez dans une entreprise internationale, ou que vous avez besoin de confirmer une réservation d’hotel ou de voiture, vous aurez besoin de ces expressions courantes pour appeler au téléphone.

Taking a call (répondre au téléphone)

Answering the phone  (répondre au téléphone)

  • Good morning. (Institution). Can l help you?  
  • (Institution), (first + family name) speaking. What can l do for you?  
  • Yes, speaking.  

Asking the caller’s name  (demander le nom de l’interlocuteur)

  • Who’s calling, please?  
  • Could l have your name, please?  
  • May l have your name, please?  

Asking the caller’s concern (demander ce que la personne veut)

  • How can I help you?  
  • What can I do for you?  
  • Whom would you like to speak to?

Asking someone to wait  (demander à la personne d’attendre)

  • Wait a moment, please. I’m putting you through.  
  • Hold the line, please. I’ll connect you.  
  • I’ll find out. /I’ll check.
  • I’ll try again.  
  • One moment, please.  

When a connection isn’t possible  (quand la liaison n’est pas possible)

  • I’m sorry. … isn’t available at the moment/is on another line.

Finishing the phone call  (terminer l’appel)

Giving a reason for the call (donner la raison de son appel)

Leaving a message  (laisser un message)
